Down is one of nature's most effective insulators — its filaments trap air warmed by your body heat to keep you comfortable. But when down gets wet, it clumps together, loses loft, and can no longer trap air effectively. Wet down loses all of its insulating properties, since water conducts heat away from the body up to 25 times faster than air. The result: you feel cold, wet, and uncomfortable.

Easy to Apply
Nikwax Down Proof™ is safe and simple to use. Just apply it in a washing machine — the wash-in formula ensures the treatment penetrates right through the item for complete coverage.
Tip: The DWR develops on air drying, but tumble drying is recommended to thoroughly and quickly dry the down. Leaving down wet or damp can ruin it completely.
When to Reapply
DWR naturally wears off with use over time. When you notice your down gear is no longer beading water or is losing warmth in damp conditions, it's time to renew the treatment with Nikwax Down Proof™.
