What are we all about, anyway?
If we had a dime for every time someone asked us, "What does Beyond Running, mean, anyway?", we'd have $1.10. But seriously folks, Beyond Running means we are more than running. No, we don't carry equestrian gear or zumba sticks or square dancing shoes. Beyond Running means we think there's more to running than just, "Hey, how fast did you go?" or "What race did you run?". Beyond Running is about our endeavor to create something good in people's lives through the sport of running. We want to create an environment where everyone feels welcome; an all inclusive running community. Beyond Running is a place where you can meet other people interested in running, walking, or just getting off the couch. Our motto is "focused on the everyday athlete", but that probably really doesn't cover it. We're here to offer information, equipment & encouragement to anyone whether you've been running for years or if you want to start walking. We strive to offer you the best products and the best selection that we can as well as the knowledge to get you in the right shoes, clothing, and accessories.
The Story
A long time ago (2007) in a galaxy far, far away (Downtown Fargo), a few people decided it was time to open a specialty running store, focused on the "everyday athlete". A haven for those that are just not quite ready to call themselves runners, yet impressive enough for those seasoned at the sport. Through the years, we've been privileged to watch many of our customers go from couch potato to everyday athletes - which is really our inspiration for the store, in a nutshell. Beyond Running started at 506 Broadway, and in 2011 was lucky enough to expand in a new space at 516 Broadway. Each and every day, the staff at Beyond Running works to do two things: (1). Give you the best service ever. and (2). Have fun. Eating cookies is also high on the list of daily activities.
The Store(s)
You will find our original location in the heart of Downtown Fargo, at 516 Broadway. Conveniently located between the Bismarck and the Empire, we have found our home on the north end of Broadway. Just across the street from Great Northern Bike Shop and slightly north of Cowboy Jack's you'll hope you'll find yourself at home in the store. It's for you, after all.
Our second location opened in September of 2017. Located in West Fargo, the store has been renovated from an old car wash and convenience store to a super sweet retail space and community room! Find us at 837 Main Ave East, just north of West Fargo High School!.

Outermost Layer opens
We opened Outermost Layer at 102 Broadway. We designed a store that would focus on the gear we all enjoy when we're not running -for life beyond the run. We have always considered Outermost Layer an extension of the Beyond Running lifestyle. You can't run all the time, and that time should be spent using cool things like hammocks and wearing cool gear from great brands.
Three Doors Down!
Beyond Running moves...just a little!
We need more space! So BR moved to 516 Broadway, a convienent three doors down from our original space at 506. Yep, that's right, on a random Sunday, we rolled all of our gear a couple doors over to the place we currently call our home downtown.
Better Together!
Outermost Layer moves next to Beyond Running
In 2013, we had the opportunity to expand the space at 516 Broadway. So, we punched a little doorway cut a little doorway in the wall and joined Beyond Running and Outermost Layer. Then, during a particularly blizzard-y winter, we decided to do some more demo and open up the wall between the stores even more. We also decided we would combine our systems so that your shopping experience would be seamless, one-checkout experience.

Beyond Running-West Fargo opens to provide even more access for customers! We renovated from an old car wash and convenience store to a super sweet retail space and community room! We did most of the construction ourselves- a literal blood, sweat and (maybe more than a few) tears moment!
